It's Allergy and Flu Season, AGAIN!
Written by Ruel Olanday Jr
Flu Season has come in. Are you sure you are prepared for all the sneezing, coughing, and overall not feeling up to anything feeling. Most of us probably have already taken flu shots. It is one of the best ways to prevent ourselves from getting sick. Already several schools in February had to be closed down because of a Flu outbreak. This is usually a big issue through out the school districts. Along with attendance being down, students normally can not handle the pressures of school, work, friends, girlfriends/boyfriends, teachers and HOMEWORK.
Sickness Etiquette
Coughing/Sneezing:
Most us do it automatically. It has been program into our brains by out parents and doctors. The all time rule is to cover your mouth or nose when sneezing or coughing. Not only is it polite to do so, it minimizes the amount of germs you can spread. I mean you don’t want your best friend to be sick because of you. You never know how a cold can affect their bold. When you have the urge to sneeze or cough, Cough or sneeze into your sleeve or in a tissue ( if one is in hand). And if you use your hands, don’t go off shaking hands or giving people high fives. That is just NASTY.
Itchy Eyes/Runny Nose:
Most of us know that scratching your eyes isn't a god thing. For one reason, your spreading the germs you have in your hands into your eyes. This can lead to a lot of side effects, to red eye or pink eye. Lets say you have a runny nose. All i can tell you is to step outside wher no one can hear you and take a moment to blow your nose. It is as simple as that.
Attitudes:
I know everyone has had their moment with having the cold. But, does it really mean we have to have an attitude around a person. We know you are sick. We feel for you. Everyone on this planet has had a cold sometimes in their life time. You don’t have to be so rude if we are asking you something.
Advice:
If you are sick, you are sick. Stay home for god’s sake. Worry about you assignments, appointments, and other obligations. You come first. And if your sick, you might as well stay home because no one else wants to get sick.
